At a recent luncheon hosted by the Inland Empire Economic Partnership, the keynote speaker, Dr. John Husing, shared an update on the region known as the Inland Empire. It is good to know we have recovered from the Recession and have a bright future. After losing 8.71 million jobs there have been 16,065,000 job gains from January 2008 to February 2017. We rank the second largest absolute job gain in California in 2016. The current unemployment is at 4.4%.
Moving to meet the growing demand for air travel this summer at Ontario International Airport (ONT), American Airlines will offer nonstop service between ONT and Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD) from July 5, 2017 through August 21, 2017. ONT is located in the Inland Empire, approximately 35 miles east of downtown Los Angeles in the center of Southern California. It is a medium-hub, full-service airport with direct commercial jet service to 15 major U.S. cities and Mexico, and connecting service to many domestic and international destinations.
The fencing is up, the dirt is being moved and more hotels are on the rise! Rancho Cucamonga currently has three hotels totaling 339 hotel rooms in the construction phase. We look forward to welcoming our new hotel partners to the Greater Ontario market.

What do you have planned for Easter Sunday, April 16th? It used to be a great time for a family vacation to start or wrap up since the kids had a week off for Spring Break. In the past, elementary schools had a week break tied into Easter Sunday. Now several schools have changed the curriculum to incorporate a two week break from school at the best time in the calendar year to allow catching up and studying prior to testing. In our area that was early March. Maybe it’s a good idea to diversify the calendar with family time separate from the traditional “Spring Break” college crowd.
